  4. On the other hand, Dasas were the prisoners who were captured in a war and treated like slaves. 
  5. Their masters considered them their personal property.

  1. Archaeologists suggest the existence of social differences by studying different quantity and value of items found in different burial sites. 
  2. For example, in one of the burials in Brahmagiri, archaeologists recovered thirty-three gold beads, two stone beads, four copper bangles and one conch shell, 
  3. while there were only a few pots in some other surrounding graves. Thus, it was concluded that the first grave must have been of a chief or a rich person, while the others were the graves of ordinary men.
  4. The burials, therefore, indicate the existence of social differences among the people.
