The term ‘Government’ stands for an individual or a group of individuals who have the authority to govern a country or state.

Government performs various functions, such as the following:
  1. It is responsible for managing the affairs of the country or state. 
  2. It is a body that takes all the decisions for the country, like constructing railway lines, roads and canals; setting up of schools 
  3. and hospitals; providing basic amenities to the people, etc.
  4. It also looks after the economically weaker sections of the society by launching various schemes for their upliftment.
  5. The government is also responsible to protect the country from any kind of foreign invasions.
  6. In case of any natural disasters, it helps the people through various relief camps.
  7. It ensures that the basic requirements of the citizens are fulfilled.
