- Advertisement is a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event.

Ans:
- Advertising mainly focuses on building brands.
- Branding literally means assigning a product a particular name or sign.
- This helps in differentiating the product from other similar products in the market.

- Manufacturers raise the cost of product by packing attractively and advertising their brand.
- Advertising can play on our emotions as we have been conditioned to think that some product are better than the rest.

- Based on the research results, the agencies create advertisement campaigns.
LAQ 07. What are the effects of Advertisement in a democratic country?
Ans:
- People who own small businesses cannot afford to spend on huge expensive advertisements.
- As a result, local homemade products do not get advertised.
- Such products are usually sold in lower price than branded products.
- This negatively affects the business of several small companies and often forcing out of their livelihoods.
- In a democracy, all people must be treated equally and should be able to live with dignity.
- However, advertisements often cater to a certain section of society and ignore the needs and vulnerability of other sections of the society.
- As consumers and citizens of a democratic country we must be aware of the direct and indirect messages which an advertisement is trying to convey.
SAQ 07. Difference between Surrogates and Stereotype Advertisement?
Ans:
- Surrogate advertising refers to a form of advertisement that duplicates the brand image of one product to promote another product of the same brand. The word surrogate means a ‘substitute’.
- The Advertising stereotypes are beliefs, impressions or conceptions that an individual or group has over other individuals or groups.
