  1. Companies use advertisements to draw people's attention to their products and earn huge profits

VSAQ 03What is Brand Value? 

Ans
    1. Advertising mainly focuses on building brands. 
    2. Branding literally means assigning a product a particular name or sign. 
    3. This helps in differentiating the product from other similar products in the market.

        VSAQ 04How does brand value affects the social values? 
         
        Ans    
          1. Manufacturers raise the cost of product by packing attractively and advertising their brand. 
          2. Advertising can play on our emotions as we have been conditioned to think that some product are better than the rest.
          Eg : In the ad for baby powder, the emotion of a mother for her child is focused on to sell the product. 

                  SAQ 05What is Devious advertisement?  

                  Ans:
                      1. The advertisements which create using loopholes in the law or play on people’s insecurities are said to be devious advertisement. 
                      2. We can categorise devious advertising into two broad types
                      A) Surrogate advertising and 
                      B) Stereotypes in advertising.

                                      1. The advertising industry is a major industry in the business sector.
                                      2. To attract consumers to buy their products, companies make extensive use of advertisements.  
                                      3. The text of the advertisement is usually catchy, and the images grab the attention of the viewers.
                                      4. Companies hire advertising agencies which conduct market research and surveys to understand the needs and demands of the population 
                                      5. Based on the research results, the agencies create advertisement campaigns.

                                      LAQ 07What are the effects of Advertisement in a democratic country?  

                                      Ans:
                                        1. People who own small businesses cannot afford to spend on huge expensive advertisements.
                                        2. As a result, local homemade products do not get advertised.
                                        3. Such products are usually sold in lower price than branded products. 
                                        4. This negatively affects the business of several small companies and often forcing out of their livelihoods.
                                        5. In a democracy, all people must be treated equally and should be able to live with dignity.
                                        6. However, advertisements often cater to a certain section of society and ignore the needs and vulnerability of other sections of the society.
                                        7. As consumers and citizens of a democratic country we must be aware of the direct and indirect messages which an advertisement is trying to convey.
                                        SAQ 07Difference between Surrogates and Stereotype Advertisement?  

                                        Ans:
                                        1. Surrogate advertising refers to a form of advertisement that duplicates the brand image of one product to promote another product of the same brand. The word surrogate means a ‘substitute’.
                                        2. The Advertising stereotypes are beliefs, impressions or conceptions that an individual or group has over other individuals or groups.
