• It receives a large number of medical tourists per annum due to the availability of new technologies and treatment procedures. 
• It is one of the largest exporters and producers of medicines in the world.

The issues related to healthcare services provided in India are as follows
• Healthcare facilities in rural areas are poor as most doctors prefer to practice in urban areas. 
• Many people in urban as well as rural areas do not have access to clean drinking water, which 
leads to an increase in the number of water-borne diseases like diarrhea and cholera. 
• Children in several parts of the country do not have access to regular, nutritious meals, which leads to malnourishment. 
• Compared to the residents of several other countries, many people in India succumb to preventable diseases. 
• Diseases like malaria and tuberculosis are still a threat to people as a sizeable number of cases continue to be reported every year.
• High healthcare costs often lead people to delay treatment, aggravating health problems.
